Your teeth are meant to last a lifetime. While you need to make sure that you see your dentist every six months for your regular cleanings checkups, there are things that you can do at home to help make sure that your teeth serve you well for many years to come.
You need to make sure that you brush your teeth no less than twice a day for two minutes at time. Brush you’re the outsides and the insides of your top teeth, followed by your bottom teeth. Hold your toothbrush at a 45 degree angle to your teeth, except when you are brushing your front teeth. When cleaning your front teeth, hold your toothbrush vertically and use short, up and down strokes.
When you are done brushing store your toothbrush in an upright position, in a place where the air can dry it. Then, it is time to reach for the floss. You will need about 18 inches to do the job well. Wrap most of it around each middle finger, holding one to two inches between your thumbs forefingers. Start by flossing your back teeth, and work your way forward. Floss just under and then away from your gum line. Use fresh section of floss for each tooth, and be sure to dispose of the floss when you are finished. You will find that with a small investment of time and effort, your teeth can be healthy and your smile bright.
